SynapCell Reaches a Major Milestone in 2026: From Advanced Anti-Epileptic Screening to Sovereign AI-Powered Drug Discovery

SynapCell Headquarters

The year 2026 marks a turning point for SynapCell. Building on its recognized expertise in translational electrophysiology, the company has strengthened its flagship anti-epileptic screening offering while launching a new sovereign artificial intelligence-based solution. This evolution positions SynapCell at the forefront of neuroscience drug discovery and among the most innovative technology players in the field.

An Anti-Epileptic Screening Platform Reaching Full Maturity

For more than twenty years, SynapCell has supported pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies in developing therapies for brain disorders and has established itself as a leading partner in epilepsy research.

In 2026, SynapCell further strengthens its preclinical screening offering, which has already been validated through the NIH Epilepsy Therapy Screening Program (ETSP)* via an ongoing collaboration with the University of Utah since 2014. Built on robust experimental models, standardized protocols, and the analytical power of its Cue® platform, this offering addresses the growing demands of pharmaceutical research. To date, several hundred drug candidates have been evaluated through SynapCell’s screening platform.

This solution enables rapid and cost-effective assessment of the anti-epileptic potential of drug candidates, providing development teams with reliable data to support critical Go/No-Go decisions. It helps pharmaceutical companies reduce development risk, identify the most promising compounds earlier in the pipeline, particularly for drug-resistant forms of epilepsy, and benefit from comprehensive support throughout the entire preclinical development continuum.

*ETSP is administered by the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Cue® Expands with a Sovereign AI Engine

The other major announcement of 2026 is the launch of SynapCell’s new Cue®-based AI-powered offering, which will be officially unveiled on November 17 during the Society for Neuroscience’s annual meeting, Neuroscience 2026, in Washington, D.C. This milestone represents a key step in the company’s growth strategy.

For the first time, SynapCell combines its expertise in quantitative electrophysiology (qEEG) with proprietary artificial intelligence technologies powered by deep learning. Developed in partnership with Grenoble Alpes University and the Jean Kuntzmann Laboratory, this new analytical capability relies on AI models trained on extensive experimental datasets, creating a unique scientific asset in the neuroscience field.

This combination of advanced AI and high-quality biological data enables Cue® to distinguish the therapeutic potential of drug candidates across five major therapeutic classes. The result is a deeper understanding of mechanisms of action and pharmacological effects, while paving the way for a new generation of decision-support tools for pharmaceutical research and development.

Addressing the New Challenges of Pharmaceutical R&D

At a time when the biopharmaceutical industry is striving to improve research productivity while controlling development costs and timelines, SynapCell’s value proposition is particularly relevant.

The integration of sovereign AI provides an additional strategic advantage. Data generated by SynapCell and its partners are intelligently managed, processed locally, and leveraged within a fully controlled technological environment. This approach ensures data security, confidentiality, and scientific value creation while preserving full control over critical research assets.

Entering a New Growth Phase

By reinforcing its leadership in anti-epileptic screening and introducing a breakthrough offering at the intersection of artificial intelligence, deep learning, and experimental neuroscience, SynapCell reaches a decisive milestone in 2026.

These two strategic advances form the foundation of the company’s next growth phase. Together, they strengthen SynapCell’s commercial appeal, technological differentiation, and capacity for scientific innovation, positioning the company to play an increasingly important role in the future of neuroscience drug discovery.
